Orsomarso

Yeimar Moscera left for Aston Villa in 2024, the clearest sign yet that a football school set up for boys from low-income families in El Carmelo, in the municipality of Candelaria, Valle del Cauca, could produce a player for the Premier League. Orsomarso started there in 2012, years before it had a professional licence to its name.

The name commemorates a place its founder never played for. José Gabriel Sangiovanni, son of a former América de Cali president, named the club after Orsomarso, the Italian town his father came from. The professional licence itself was bought in 2016, from Uniautónoma FC.

Since then the club has moved more than it has won. Eight seasons were played out of Palmira, at the Estadio Francisco Rivera Escobar, before 2025 sent it first to Yumbo, briefly, and then to Barrancabermeja, where the Estadio Daniel Villa Zapata became home under an agreement running through at least 2027. The nearest Orsomarso has come to a trophy is a runner-up finish in the 2024 Primera B final, lost to Llaneros FC on penalties.

Blue and white gave the club its nickname, Los Blanquiazules, and its kit: blue shirt, white shorts and blue socks at home, yellow fading to white away. The rivalry that mattered while the club was based in Palmira, the Clásico Palmirano against Inter Palmira, did not survive the move; what remains is the Clásico Canterano against Atlético F.C., played more than 25 times. José Enamorado, another product of the El Carmelo school, made 58 appearances and scored five goals before moving on to La Equidad, Deportivo Cali, Santa Fe and Junior.
