Paphos FC did not grow out of one club's long history but out of two clubs deciding that a divided city was better served by a single strong side. AEP Paphos and AEK Kouklia merged on 10 June 2014, and the new club took blue, white and gold as its colours.

Ten years passed before there was anything to show for it. The first trophy came in the 2023/24 season, when the club beat Omonia 3-0 in the Cyprus Cup final. The following season brought the club's first league championship, the top prize in Cypriot football never having gone to a Paphos side before. That same season the club returned to the Cup final and lost it to AEK Larnaca, before winning the Cup back again in 2026.

Home matches are played at the stadium named for Stelios Kyriakides, a ground that holds 9,394 — modest for a reigning champion, and a size that says more about how new the club's success is than about its ambitions. Supporters call the team the Light Brigade, sometimes the Blue Knights.
