Persepam Madura Utd

Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium holds 7,000 inside a ground built for nearly double that, and Persepam Madura Utd have played there since their earliest seasons rising through the regional divisions. Promotion followed promotion in those years: out of Divisi III in 2008, then Divisi II, then Divisi I, until third place in the Premier Division in the 2011–2012 season put the club into the Indonesia Super League. That top-flight run, from 2013 to 2014, is remembered in Pamekasan for the strikers who carried it, Zaenal Arief chief among them.

The club traces back to 1970, long before that top-flight spell, and has carried the nickname Sapeh Ngamok, the Mad Bull, since the reorganisation that followed its brief spell as Persepam Madura United between 2011 and 2015. Red and white have stayed the colours throughout.

Silverware has been rarer than the club's history suggests it should be. The clearest of it came this year, when Persepam beat Pasuruan United on penalties, 6–4 after a 1–1 draw, to win the Piala Gubernur Jawa Timur and the Liga 4 East Java title.

Madura United FC play under a different name but share the island, and Madura United was founded in 2016 by Achsanul Qosasi, who had previously run Persepam itself.
