Ranger Field holds 6,000. Northwestern Oklahoma State fields its football team out of Alva, and the Rangers have played there since 1898.
The signature season came in 1999, when the Rangers beat Georgetown of Kentucky 34–26 for the NAIA national title under head coach Tim Albin, who was named the association's Coach of the Year for it. Georgetown had the Rangers' number the following year, winning the rematch 20–0, and Northwestern lost two more title games after that, to Carroll of Montana in 2003 and to Morningside in 2020, before the program moved on to NCAA Division II.
