Ilha do Governador is not the Rio de Janeiro of the postcards. The island neighbourhood grew up around the city's international airport, and its football runs through community centres rather than corporate boardrooms. One of those centres, the Centro Cultural e Esportivo Ação — a body built as much around culture as around sport — put a football team on the pitch under the name Zinza, formed on 26 August 2008.

Zinza has stayed close to home ever since, entered in the Carioca B2 and the Copa Rio, competitions that sit below the state's top flight and reward a club for simply staying the course season to season. The kit reflects the same modest, settled identity: white shirts, shorts and socks at home, with black kept for away fixtures, all built around the club's green and white colours.

Home matches are played on the island itself, at the Estádio Luso-Brasileiro, known locally as Arena Petrobras. It is not a ground built for crowds — capacity stands at 5,044.
