Paciência sits far out in Rio's West Zone. 7 de Abril began there in 2006, not as a football project but as a social and generational support centre — professionalising only in 2017 when the club joined the Rio de Janeiro state federation to play in Série C.

The name it carries on the pitch, Cação Vermelho, sits oddly with the yellow shirts registered for its home kit; the away strip is green. It plays its official matches at the Estádio Ítalo Del Cima in Campo Grande, though 7 de Abril has also turned out at the much smaller Estádio Nivaldo Pereira in Nova Iguaçu and trains at its own Jardim 7 de Abril pitch, which holds barely 500.

Its closest brush with a state title came in 2020, in the final of the Campeonato Carioca Série B2, where it lost to Pérolas Negras. In 2025 the under-20 side won the Taça Maracanã.

A senior title, at any level, has not yet followed.
