The reserve side entered China League Two in 2024 and remain there, having gone close at the first attempt: top of the Northern group after the preliminary stage, then out in the promotion play-offs, the last of them lost 0-1 to Dalian K'un City.
Until that debut the parent club had never run a professional farm team. Young players either went straight into the first-team squad or played amateur and youth football. The B side was created to fill it, and it carries the senior club's badge and its red home kit rather than anything of its own.
It does not, however, use the senior club's ground. Home matches are played at the Jinshan Sports Centre, out in Jinshan district.
The one fixture with something at stake beyond points is against Shanghai Segenda, a League Two meeting the city treats as a derby. After Port II won one of them 6-1, Segenda's investor Zhu Jun congratulated the winning players in person.
