The teams Stallion fans watch the table for aren't the ones above them but the ones from Negros and Iloilo. Matches against Ceres-Negros, since absorbed into United City, and against Kaya FC-Iloilo carry the weight of a rivalry that has never needed a name of its own; it is enough that they are the clubs Stallion has had to get past to be taken seriously.

Getting past them has been the hard part. Stallion Laguna started out in Biñan in 2002 as a seven-a-side outfit before the club took formal shape in 2006, and by the UFL years it had turned into a side capable of winning things: the UFL Cup in 2012, the Division 1 title the year after. Since football in the Philippines reorganised under the Philippines Football League, that habit of winning has thinned into a habit of nearly winning. Third place in 2019, third again in 2021, 2022–23 and 2024 — four finishes in the top three without a single PFL championship to show for any of them.

The club has tried to build its own answer to that gap. The Stallion MFC Youth Academy, formed out of a 2019 merger with Makati FC, is where that work is being done, on the theory that the next title is more likely to be grown in Biñan than bought.

None of it changes who the fixture list points to first. When Stallion and Kaya, or Stallion and the club that used to be Ceres-Negros, are drawn together, the third-place finishes and the near-misses of the PFL era matter less than simply getting the better of them on the day.
