Sportpark De Boekhorst holds 2,500 people. VVSB has played its home matches there since the ground took shape around a team that grew out of Noordwijkerhout's psychiatric institution, Sint Bavo, where several of the founders worked in 1931.

The club has spent most of its life climbing through the Vierde, Derde and Tweede Klassen, picking up regional titles that pushed it up a division at a time, and touched its ceiling in 2010 with promotion to the Topklasse, then the top amateur tier. In 2015/16, VVSB reached the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup — the first amateur side to get that far since IJsselmeervogels in 1975. They got there by going 0-2 down to Eerste Divisie side FC Den Bosch in the quarter-final and coming back to win 3-2, before FC Utrecht ended the run at the semi-final stage. Maikey Parami became the face of that cup run, still working at Hema between matches while the country noticed. A quarter-final followed the next season, but the club has never gone further.

Six kilometres away in Noordwijk sits VV Noordwijk, and matches between the two are known locally as the streekderby, the fixture that matters most in the Duin- en Bollenstreek regardless of where either club stands that season.

VVSB now plays in the Derde Divisie, having moved its first team from Sunday to Saturday football in 2022/23, still turning out in the purple and yellow that gave the club its nickname, De Paars-Gele, in front of the same 2,500-capacity ground in Noordwijkerhout.
