Wehen Wiesbaden U19

Sinan Karweina played out most of his youth years at Wehen Wiesbaden before leaving, then came back to the senior side in 2026 — the kind of return a small academy notices, because it means what the club builds actually holds. The under-19 side exists to produce exactly that: players who move on, or players who move up. Arthur Lyska arrived from Mainz 05, signed his first professional contract with the club in 2019, and left for Sandhausen in 2025, a path several others have since followed. Finn Ludwig came in from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024 and turned pro a year later; Jan Matthias Becker made the same move from Mainz in 2024 before signing in 2025. Ben Nink and Tim Neubert, both defenders, went the other way — through the academy and straight into a professional deal, in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

The team trains and plays under the SV Wehen Wiesbaden name, in the club's red, black and gold, and shares the BRITA-Arena with the first team when needed. Below the U19s, the U17 side has had its own run of form, winning the Hessenpokal in 2024 and again in 2025. The derby fixtures against FSV Frankfurt and SV Darmstadt 98 carry into the youth ranks as well, part of the wider Hessian rivalry the senior club has built its identity around.

That identity goes back to a first youth team formed in 1955 under coach Willi Lehmann, more than two decades after the senior club itself was founded in Taunusstein in 1926 as SV Wehen. The name Wiesbaden was added only in 2007, after the move to the city the academy now calls home — the same place where Lehmann first put boys in a kit and called it a team.
