Team sport in the Bielszowice district of Ruda Śląska began on 20 June 1920 with the formation of Jastrząb Bielszowice, and two years later the Zgoda Bielszowice Sports Society grew out of that first club, officially registered on 16 January 1923. The handball section that carries the name today, and gives the club its Bielszowiczanki nickname, was not set up until 1960.

The women's team reached the top flight in 1985 under coach Ludwik Biegasik, and its best years followed at the turn of the millennium: the Polish Cup in 2003, beaten in the final 29:17 against Jelfa Jelenia Góra, and again in 2004 against Piotrcovia Piotrków Trybunalski. A fourth-place finish in the Ekstraklasa playoffs came in 2005, alongside two seasons in the EHF Cup Winners' Cup. None of that shielded the club from money trouble: in January 2011 Zgoda withdrew from the Superliga altogether when the city stopped funding it. The team started again from the lower leagues and only got back to the second-tier I Liga in the 2018/2019 season.

Youth handball has held up better than the senior side. Zgoda's junior teams took the national junior championship in 1973, 1988 and 1991, and the junior-youth title as recently as 2021 and 2022.

Matches are played at the Hala Sportowa "Zgoda" in Bielszowice, a 300-seat hall, in the club's blue and white.
