About the player
Miguel Oliveira came from Infantas, a village in the municipality of Guimarães, and Vitória Guimarães shaped his early career. He joined the club's academy in 2003 and went through the youth ranks until 2012. He then spent eight years with the B team, making 144 appearances. It was a long apprenticeship in the second string.
He was also called up by Portugal's youth sides. He won one cap at under-16 level in 2010, then two at under-18 and one at under-19 in 2012.
He left Vitória in 2020, first going out on loan to Leixões without playing a match. In September that year he signed for Moreirense on a free transfer and made two Primeira Liga appearances. Game time was hard to come by at the top level.
The move to Cyprus in August 2022 changed that. He joined AEL Limassol in the Cypriot First Division, again on a free transfer, and played 30 matches for the club before leaving in 2024.
On 18 July 2024 he came back to Portugal and signed for Penafiel, once more without a transfer fee.
