Nikell Paul Touglo

Nikell Touglo was born in Ratingen and holds dual German and Togolese citizenship, a heritage he has carried into his international career: he made his debut for Togo's U23 side in March 2023, though he has yet to add a senior cap. His football education began in the Fortuna Düsseldorf academy, and he progressed through that pathway before joining the club's first-team set-up, with a spell registered at Fortuna Düsseldorf II along the way. From there he moved to FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin, where he spent two seasons before his transfer to SV Meppen, where he now plays as a defender.

At 186cm, Touglo offers the physical profile clubs look for at the back, and he has been used across defensive positions, capable of playing at right-back as well as through the centre.

His path has been built through steady steps rather than a single breakthrough moment: youth football at one Bundesliga-affiliated academy, a transition into senior football with the same club, and then a move into the Berlin game before continuing his career in Meppen. The Togo federation's interest, confirmed by his U23 call-up, adds a further thread to a career that began entirely within German football.
