About the player
Wilmer went back to AIK, the club where he started out, on 22 July 2025. He arrived on a free transfer and signed a contract that runs until 31 December 2028.
He came through the AIK academy, and 2021 was the peak of that stage. He won the P17 Allsvenskan Norra and the SM-guld, the Swedish youth championship. The following August, AZ Alkmaar signed him on a free transfer and he moved to the Netherlands. There he played for the club's U18 and U19 sides and then for Jong AZ, the U21 team, for whom he made four appearances.
Alongside the club work, he played for Sweden at youth level. Between 2022 and 2023 he won three caps for the U19s and scored once.
Nine days after the return to AIK, he was sent out on loan. AFC Eskilstuna took him on 31 July 2025 until 30 November 2025, with the aim of giving him regular football in Ettan Norra, the third tier of Swedish football. The loan was for his development, and it set the terms of his first months back in Sweden: he was under contract at AIK but playing his football elsewhere.
A centre-back, he has not yet played for the Sweden senior side.
