FAP

When Les Amazones took the pitch for FAP in the mid-2010s, they were the part of this club that actually won things. The women's team lifted the Cameroonian women's championship in 2016 and followed it with the national cup in 2017, and for a club otherwise built around soldiers and police officers keeping fit between deployments, that pairing of titles stands out as the closest thing to a golden run.

The men's side has never quite matched that. Its high-water mark came in 2019, in the Cameroon Cup final, where FAP led before Stade Renard de Melong turned it round to win 3-2 — the closest the men have come to a trophy, and still the story told about them.

The club grew out of the armed forces and police sports association in Yaoundé, formed in 1972, with green and red as its colours from the start.

Matches are played at the Stade Militaire de Yaoundé, a ground built for a couple of thousand people rather than for occasion — no marketing department, no club shop, just a military pitch in the capital where a side named for a football section that may or may not predate the parent club by decades keeps turning out in green and red.
