«Os Aguiarenses»
The Estádio Municipal 1º de Maio holds about 5,000 people. It is a municipal ground, and Sport Clube de Vila Pouca de Aguiar, known as SC Vila Pouca, has been its main occupant. The town's demonym, Aguiarenses, gave the club its nickname, Os Aguiarenses.
The club has existed since March 1963. In 2023 the regional paper Desportivo Transmontano marked its 60th anniversary. It plays in the Divisão de Honra of the Associação de Futebol de Vila Real (AFVR), the district league, and its fixtures against Sabroso FC are billed as the Derby Aguiarense.
The Taça AFVR, the district cup, came in June 2026. Under coach Renato Coimbra, Vila Pouca beat Juventude de Pedras Salgadas 3-1 in the final.
Giovanni Assis, a Brazilian forward, scored 15 goals in 2020/21 and finished as top scorer in the district's Honra Division. Vila Pouca also supplies players to bigger clubs. Tomás Valério joined Benfica's youth academy in 2017, aged eight.
