Edenilson

Edenilson arrived at Botafogo in February 2026, signing as a free agent after his contract with Grêmio was terminated, and took the number 88 shirt. The move brought a well-travelled midfielder to Rio de Janeiro: a footballer from Porto Alegre who started out at Caxias before Corinthians signed him in May 2011.

Those Corinthians years were the making of him. He won the Campeonato Brasileiro in his first season at the club, then lifted the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2012, adding the Recopa Sudamericana in 2013. That run of titles took him to Europe in January 2014, when Udinese signed him; he barely featured for the Italian club itself, instead spending two separate loan spells at Genoa.

It was back in Brazil, at Internacional, that Edenilson rebuilt his career from 2017 onwards. He won back-to-back Campeonato Gaúcho titles in 2021 and 2022, and 2021 was his standout year individually: he picked up the Bola de Prata from ESPN and a place in the CBF's Team of the Year. That form carried him to Atlético-MG in January 2023, where he added two more regional titles, the Campeonato Mineiro in 2023 and 2024, before a brief stint at Grêmio preceded his free transfer to Botafogo.

With a medal collection that stretches from a continental treble with Corinthians to regional honours in the south and in Minas Gerais, Edenilson brings considerable experience to Botafogo's midfield.
