About the player
Gerai Motta was sixteen when he first pulled on the Alianza Lima shirt, coming off the bench for the second half of a 2-1 defeat to Independiente de Avellaneda in the Serie Río de la Plata. By April he had his first taste of Liga 1 football, six minutes as a substitute in an 8-0 rout of Cusco FC. A one-minute cameo against Comerciantes Unidos followed in July, and by June he had already been named in the senior squad for the Copa Caliente.
A forward who can also play out wide, Motta came through the Alianza Lima academy and represents Peru at youth level despite also holding Venezuelan heritage. He has been a regular scorer for the age-group sides: four caps with Peru's under-15s preceded a run with the under-16s, where he scored in a 2-2 friendly draw against Uruguay. At under-17 level he has been even more involved, with twelve caps and three goals, including a goal against Chile at the South American U-17 Championship in Paraguay, a match Peru lost 5-0.
