Nicolás Retamar

Nicolás Retamar did not come up through a big club's academy. His senior career started in 2018 at Juventud Unida de Gualeguaychú, and from there he built his name in stages: Gimnasia y Esgrima of his native Concepción del Uruguay, a spell at Barracas Central, then Sportivo Las Parejas, where in 2021 he helped the club win the Torneo Federal A and earn promotion to the Primera Nacional. He moved on to Atlético Paraná and C.A. Güemes, scoring six and seven goals respectively, before settling at Ferro Carril Oeste in 2023, where he added 13 more goals over two seasons.

The turning point came on loan. Sent to Independiente Rivadavia in 2025, Retamar became a key attacking presence, scoring five goals in 34 appearances across competitions. He found the net in the semi-final against River Plate, and when Independiente Rivadavia reached the Copa Argentina final against Argentinos Juniors, he stepped up to convert his penalty in the shootout. The match had finished 2-2, and Independiente Rivadavia won 5-3 on penalties to claim the club's first major national title.

He has not been called up to the Argentina national team at any level, senior or youth. Now on loan at Platense, wearing number 43, Retamar arrives with a reputation built almost entirely in the lower and middle tiers of Argentine football.
