About the player
Tiago Cóser went home and won a league title within months. Chapecoense produced him, taking him into their academy in 2013 and handing him a senior debut in 2021 in the Campeonato Catarinense and Série A. The following January, Benfica paid around €1.5 million for the centre-back, but he never broke into their first team, spending his time instead with Benfica B in Liga Portugal 2 and the U23 side in Liga Revelação. That period was not without reward: he won the UEFA Youth League in 2021/22, the FIFA U20 Intercontinental Cup in 2022, and the Júnior U19 league title with Benfica's youth setup.
Coritiba paid no transfer fee, since he had accumulated no playing time at Benfica, though the Portuguese club kept a sell-on percentage of his economic rights. The move paid off quickly: Cóser played in Série B in 2025 and helped Coritiba win the title and secure promotion, taking the club into Série A for 2026.
At 1.91 m, he is right-footed and now wearing number 23. He has not been called up by Brazil at any level, senior or youth.
