Tomás Esteban Cuello

Tomás Cuello became the first player born in the 2000s to appear in the Argentine Primera División when he debuted for Club Atlético Tucumán. After 18 appearances for the club, he moved to Red Bull Bragantino on loan, where he settled into a regular role, made 76 appearances and scored seven goals, and helped the side reach the final of the Copa Sudamericana. A brief return to Tucumán followed before he signed for Athletico Paranaense, in a deal that saw the Brazilian club acquire half of his economic rights for around $2.5 million, a club record at the time, while Tucumán kept the other half. That arrangement later became a point of contention: Tucumán filed a complaint with FIFA claiming Athletico Paranaense owed a further $850,000 tied to the transfer, a claim the Brazilian club denied.

Cuello's spell at Athletico Paranaense was productive. Across more than 160 appearances he scored ten goals and set up 24 more, and won the Campeonato Paranaense in both 2023 and 2024. He moved to Atlético Mineiro on a four-year contract for a fee of roughly €5.8 million.

At Mineiro, Cuello has already added the Campeonato Mineiro to his honours and found the net in the Copa do Brasil against Flamengo and Manaus FC, as well as twice in the Copa Sul-Americana. He has yet to make his senior debut for Argentina, though he has passed through the country's under-17, under-19 and under-20 setups.
