«The Cards»
What the address does not explain is how the club got to Arizona at all. It started in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club in Chicago, under Chris O'Brien, and spent decades as the Chicago Cardinals before a move to St. Louis in 1960 and then to Phoenix in 1988, when it briefly played as the Phoenix Cardinals before settling on Arizona Cardinals in 1994.
The trophy case reflects that: two NFL Championships, from 1925 and 1947, and nothing since. The 1925 title was awarded by the league after a rival club was suspended, a decision still argued over. The only Super Bowl appearance came after the 2008 season, a 27–23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pat Tillman's number 40 hangs retired not for anything he did on the field but for what he did after leaving it, joining the army after the September 11 attacks and dying in Afghanistan in 2004.
