Farul Constanța Women

On 14 June 2026 the women of Farul Constanța walked off with the Cupa României Feminin after putting four past U Olimpia Cluj without reply. The team had existed for less than four years.

The section was put together in the summer of 2022 from nothing — no merger, no revived name, none of the borrowing that had shaped the men's side a year earlier when it absorbed the Viitorul Ovidiu squad. A second-place finish in the second division brought promotion at the first attempt, and in the debut season in the top flight, 2023/24, the side won the Romanian title. Two more followed.

Raluca Sârghe-Sîmies has been in charge through all of it. She played 52 times for Romania and captained the national team, and won championships in both Romania and Turkey before moving to the touchline. Her captain, Ioana Bortan, arrived in 2023 with thirteen Romanian titles already behind her; the old head settled them down in a dressing room where almost nobody had won anything at this level.

Home is the Stadionul Central at the Gheorghe Hagi Academy in Ovidiu, a few kilometres inland from Constanța, shared with the men's team and passed fit for the women's competition ahead of the 2024/25 season. The shirts are white and blue, as they are for the men — Alb-albaștrii covers both.

The fixture that matters is U Olimpia Cluj. Olimpia were the reference point in Romanian women's football long before Farul had a team at all, and the newcomers from the coast have spent three seasons taking the league off them. The cup final in Ovidiu, on Farul's own ground, was the sharpest version of that: 4-0, and no argument left to make.
