Cherno More 76 took control of the NBL contest at Levski Sofia's court on Monday evening, running out 93-76 winners in a match that did little to surprise given where both sides sit in the table. The visitors have now extended their advantage over the hosts, who remain rooted to 10th place after 30 games with five wins and 25 defeats.
Cherno More 76's position at the top of the table is firmer still. Twenty-two wins from 30 outings leaves them eight games clear of any challenger, and by then it became obvious they would not be giving anything away against a side that has struggled all season.
Levski Sofia's recent form tells the story. Their last five games have brought only one win — a narrow 88-87 victory over Akademik Plovdiv in April — while they have lost four of their last five outings by margins that suggest they are not matching up well against opposition. Things came to a head against a side that simply did not need this win but took it anyway.
Cherno More 76 have been less consistent of late. They lost 94-71 to Balkan on October 3rd and have dropped matches against Rilski Sportnist Samokov and Balkan in recent weeks, though those results do not dent their overall record. They were still the better side on the night.
The gap between the two clubs in the standings is now unbridgeable. Levski Sofia need a miracle to climb out of the bottom half, while Cherno More 76 are looking toward the title without much interference from anyone outside the top four.
