KK Tifun Centurion saw off Vrani Vransko 116-71 in the Slovenian Cup on Tuesday evening. The hosts had little to show for their efforts, and the result leaves them well adrift in the competition. By then, the gap was already too wide to bridge.
Vrani's recent form offered few clues that they would hold out this long. A 73-127 defeat to Polžela in October had already suggested vulnerability, and this evening's performance confirmed the worst fears. They were outclassed from the outset and never really recovered.
Centurion's own run of results has been uneven. They lost 74-99 to Senčur just three days before this tie and had previously fallen to Križevci 55-87. Yet against Vrani they found a rhythm, and the margin of victory told a different story. They held every card from the opening tip-off.
The visitors came into the game knowing their own form was far from convincing. Three days earlier they had been beaten by 25 points, and before that by 32. But here they put the game to bed early, and the scoreboard reflected a team that had finally clicked. And here's the thing — Centurion do not always perform like this.
What matters now is the standing. Centurion's progression depends on what comes next, and a 45-point win does not guarantee anything. Vrani, meanwhile, have to reassess. To be fair, the squad has not looked like itself all season.
