Clippers Not Shopping Brandon Ingram Despite NBA Penalty
Insider Jake Fischer says the Clippers aren't actively discussing trading Brandon Ingram despite the record punishment over the Kawhi Leonard cap deal.
The Clippers have no active plans to trade Brandon Ingram, despite the record punishment the NBA handed the franchise over its salary-cap circumvention in the Kawhi Leonard deal, according to insider Jake Fischer.
"I don't think it's even being discussed right now. Could they do it during the season or later? Sure. But I haven't heard that the Clippers are actively trying to trade Ingram," Fischer said on Bleacher Report.
The 29-year-old Forward made his second career All-Star appearance last season, averaging 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists a game.
The Clippers were fined $30m and stripped of draft picks earlier this month, with owner Steve Ballmer suspended for a year, after the league found the club circumvented the cap in structuring Leonard's 2019 contract. Fischer's comments suggest the front office intends to ride out that penalty with its roster largely intact rather than move on from Ingram to recoup assets.
