Bradley Beal to Wear Chris Paul's No. 3 at Clippers
Beal will switch from No. 0 to No. 3 next season, the number Chris Paul wore for the Clippers before their split, and paid tribute to him on X.
Bradley Beal will change his jersey number at the Clippers next season, swapping the "0" he wore in his first year in Los Angeles for the "3" he carried through his first 13 seasons in Washington and Phoenix. The shirt is already up for order in the club's online store.
The number carries weight at the Clippers. Chris Paul was the only player to wear it there from 2011 until his trade to Houston in 2017, then again after returning to Los Angeles in 2025 for what was billed as a farewell season. The club ultimately parted ways with him regardless.
Beal said he was initially puzzled by the reaction to his number change, then paid tribute to Paul on X.
"He's a legend! The history and status of this brand can't be touched or erased!!!" Beal wrote.
