Serbia Wants Clubs in VTB United League
Serbian basketball federation vice-president Filip Sunturlić says local clubs may join the United League, but not Partizan or Crvena Zvezda.
Serbia's basketball federation wants its clubs involved in the VTB United League, though not through the country's two biggest names.
"We will look for opportunities for our clubs to take part in pre-season tournaments, including the Super Cup, and, in future, in the United League. We would like it to be the best clubs in Serbia, but Partizan and Crvena Zvezda play around 80 matches per season across all competitions. So their participation is not possible," said Filip Sunturlić, vice-president of the Basketball Federation of Serbia.
The United League currently has 11 clubs. It was meant to have 12 this season, but Astana withdrew in mid-August, citing budget cuts.
