Tavares spoke to Realmadrid TV after the game and framed the win as the club's maiden tournament triumph.
"This is the first Super Cup, and it will always be remembered as the first one won by Real Madrid. I am very happy, and we need to keep working," Tavares said.
He said the win would give the team strength at the start of the season. "It is always good to start a season with a win like this. It sets the tone for the campaign.
