Zenit newcomer Nate Mason: St Petersburg easier to settle into
American Nate Mason says he has met no real difficulties in St Petersburg, is fully fit after a hard year and calls Zenit more than ready for the Uralmash opener.
Nate Mason, the new American at Zenit, told Match TV that settling in St Petersburg has been easier than expected.
It is not his first time in Russia. In 2020 he played for Avtodor and lived in Saratov.
Mason said he has met no real difficulties since the move and called the people pleasant and the city good. He also said he is fully fit after what he described as a hard previous year.
Zenit's pre-season, by his account, did not go entirely to plan, though the side learned from it. He said the squad is more than ready for its opener against Uralmash.
If Mason's fitness holds, Zenit go into the fixture with a settled newcomer, which may count for something early in the campaign.
