Karl-Anthony Towns rejects Knicks contract offers
Towns turned down New York offers worth $45–50 million per year as extension talks stall, with a deadline of 30 June 2027 to reach a deal.
The two sides have kept up regular contact through the off-season. New York has made clear it wants Towns on a long-term deal, and the centre has said in the past that he wants to stay. No agreement has been reached.
The length of the rejected offers has not been disclosed. Towns is due 57 million dollars next season under his existing deal, with a player option worth 61 million dollars for 2027/28. He also holds the right to a four-year extension worth up to 276 million dollars in total.
ESPN reported earlier that talks had stalled and that a deal before training camp looked unlikely. Begley did not dispute that but pushed back on the idea that the situation is bound to become a major distraction for the team.
Towns and the Knicks have until 30 June 2027 to reach an agreement. By all accounts, the outcome could also shape the club's separate extension talks with Josh Hart and Miles McBride.
