LeBron James has weighed in on why one of the most star-studded rosters of the last decade never delivered, pointing to the 2013/14 Brooklyn Nets side that included Andrei Kirilenko.
"Nobody ever talks about them, but you can look at those Nets with Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. They just never had a chance to really play together, they barely played with each other. On top of that, they were all already past their peak. What stage of your career you're at matters a huge amount for the success you're capable of achieving. You can put guys together, but it just doesn't work," James said.
That Nets team beat the Raptors 4-3 in the first round of the 2014 play-offs before losing 1-4 to James's Heat in the second round.
