Windhorst: Cooper Flagg reminded me of LeBron as a rookie
ESPN's Brian Windhorst says Dallas forward Cooper Flagg gets too little hype and will soon join the NBA's top 10, on a Wembanyama-level trajectory.
Brian Windhorst, the ESPN insider and host, says Dallas forward Cooper Flagg is getting too little attention and expects him to reach the league's top 10 "very soon".
"Honestly, I think there is not enough hype around Flagg," Windhorst said. "I don't think people have fully grasped how breathtaking his play was last season. In almost every game, he absolutely reminded me of LeBron in his rookie year."
He went on to compare Flagg with Victor Wembanyama. "I sincerely believe he will break into the top 10 players in the league very soon. His trajectory is on a level with Victor Wembanyama when it comes to the future of the NBA," Windhorst said.
Flagg was named Rookie of the Year for last season. He averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals, and shot 29.5% from three.
If Flagg builds on those numbers, this may mean Dallas is judged more and more on what he does. The three-point figure is the one that leaves most room to improve.
