The FIBA Europe Cup group stage opens this week, with Neptūnas facing Dolomiti Energia Trento in Group C and Le Mans hosting Aris in Group A.
The group stage of the men's FIBA Europe Cup gets under way this week, and Neptūnas' visit from Dolomiti Energia Trento headlines the opening round in Group C. In Group A, Le Mans host Aris.
Eight groups of four... in this case, four groups of eight, with each side yet to play a match. Group A brings together Aris, Dertona, Le Mans, Rīgas Zeļļi, San Pablo Burgos, Rostock Seawolves, Hapoel Jerusalem and Cedevita Olimpija. The Slovenian club, founded in 2019 and based at the 12,480-seat Arena Stožice, arrive off the back of a difficult start domestically, sitting third in the ABA League without a win from 16 matches.
Group B pairs Cluj, London Lions, Venezia, Roma Virtus, Skyliners, Tenerife, Türk Telekom and Šiauliai. Türk Telekom used the pre-season Gloria Cup in Belek to sharpen up, taking on Dubai in a friendly there earlier this month.
Group C is where Neptūnas meet Trento: Budućnost, Le Bourget, Napoli, Neptūnas, Tofaş, Trento, Chemnitz 99 and Śląsk make up the section.
Group D lines up Balkan Botevgrad, Bahçeşehir, Lietkabelis, Manresa, Monaco, PAOK, Roma SPQR and Ulm.
All ties kick off at Moscow time, organisers have confirmed. With every side starting from a clean sheet, the opening round will offer the first real look at how the groups shape up.
