Karl-Anthony Towns Willing to Take Knicks Discount
Towns is open to a below-market extension like Brunson's, but says the cut the Knicks want is too steep as tax-apron concerns stall talks.
Karl-Anthony
Talks between the Knicks and Towns on a long-term extension have made little progress recently. By all accounts, Towns is prepared to follow Jalen Brunson's example and accept a below-market deal. Where the two sides differ is the size of that discount.
One sticking point is New York's wish to keep its payroll under the league's second tax apron. Towns is eligible to sign a four-year extension worth up to 276 million dollars. He is due 57 million dollars this season and holds a player option worth 61 million for 2027/28.
