About the player
Allysha Chapman's route to the Houston Dash ran through Sweden. Before settling in the NWSL, she spent time with IK Sirius FK and Eskilstuna United DFF, part of a career that began with the Toronto Lady Lynx in the W-League and a loan at Vancouver Whitecaps FC. She joined Houston through the league's player allocation process in January 2015, and a trade sent her to the Boston Breakers in November 2016, and when that franchise folded she was picked up by the North Carolina Courage in the 2018 dispersal draft. Houston brought her back a few months later, in May 2018, in a trade built around future draft picks.
Chapman made her debut for Canada on 25 October 2014, against Japan, and has gone on to earn 99 caps and two goals. She has been part of Canada's squads at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups, three editions of the SheBelieves Cup, and the Olympic qualifiers ahead of the 2024 Games.
Chapman missed the end of the 2023 NWSL season and the 2024 Olympic qualifying window because of pregnancy. She had already been through one significant injury lay-off, a hamstring strain in 2017 during her time at Boston, and in April 2025 she was placed on Houston's injured list.
