About the player
Elizabeth Ball arrived at Kansas City Current as part of the expansion club's build in 2023, already the owner of over 100 NWSL appearances by the time she reached that milestone in August 2025, the 115th player in league history to do so. The path there was not a straight line: she went undrafted in the 2018 NWSL Draft and had to work her way into the league as a free agent, a route that took her first to the Portland Thorns and then to the Houston Dash before Kansas City became a settled home. The club has since re-signed her through the 2026 season, with a mutual option to extend into 2027.
Her college years at Penn State left the clearer marks. In 2015 she scored the opening goal in the Big Ten Tournament final against Rutgers as the Nittany Lions took the title, and the following year she was named to the All-Big Ten First Team. Penn State reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2017, her final season, and she was named Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week that November.
Internationally, Ball has not been capped by the senior United States team, but she was part of the U.S. under-20 squad at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
