G. Robinson

Gabrielle Robinson made her name at West Virginia before she ever kicked a ball professionally. Over four years with the Mountaineers she was a permanent fixture in the back line, starting all 78 games she played, and the honours followed in step: Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman in 2019, Second-Team All-Big 12 as a senior in 2022, and a Big 12 Tournament title that same year, in which she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Kansas City Current took her with the 15th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NWSL Draft, and she signed her first professional contract on a one-year deal with a club option. The option was exercised, and after her rookie season she signed a new three-year contract — a vote of confidence the club repeated in August 2025 with a further three-year extension. She has not played for any other professional club.

Robinson's rise through the American system began well before college. She played her youth soccer with Braddock Road Youth Club and the Washington Spirit Academy before starring for the United States at U-15 and U-17 level. Her standout moment at that age came in 2016, when she was part of the U.S. squad that won the CONCACAF Girls' U-15 Championship and was named to the tournament's Best XI.

At club level with Kansas City Current, the trophies have kept coming: the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup and the 2025 NWSL Shield both sit on her record as a defender in a team built to win silverware.
