F. M. Cáceres Agüero

Fernando Matías Cáceres Agüero, known as Mati Cáceres, wears the number 7 shirt for 2 de Mayo in the Paraguayan Primera División. His name reached a wider audience in 2025 for a single moment: a bicycle kick against Cerro Porteño that the Paraguayan Football Association voted the best goal of the year.

That same season he found himself in contention for the Primera División's top scorer title, a notable feat given that he did not hold a regular starting place and had his minutes limited for tactical reasons.

Cáceres began his senior career at Nacional Asunción before a spell at San Lorenzo in the División Intermedia. He joined 2 de Mayo in 2023 and was part of the squad that won promotion to the Primera División in 2024. He then moved to Fernando de la Mora for the 2025 season before returning to 2 de Mayo. Each of these moves came as a free transfer.

Cáceres has said he has represented Paraguay's national team setup for more than a decade, and there is an unverified claim that he was part of a Paraguay under-20 side that won a medal at the Odesur Games.
