Gabriel Poveda

Gabriel Poveda's career has been built almost entirely away from home. Since joining Portuguese club Alverca on a free transfer in January 2019, he has been sent out on loan year after year, moving through six different Brazilian and Bolivian sides while the Portuguese club held his rights. Poveda kept finding ways to stand out wherever he landed.

The clearest example came in 2022, on loan at Sampaio Corrêa, where he finished as the top scorer of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B with 19 goals and helped the club win the Campeonato Maranhense. Two years later, at Avaí, he again topped a state championship's scoring charts, finishing the Campeonato Catarinense with 8 goals on his way to 9 in 25 appearances for the club. Between those two peaks came a harder spell: a serious knee injury suffered in November 2020 while on loan at Brasil de Pelotas interrupted what had been a promising run.

Poveda's loan spell at Athletico Paranaense in 2019 also brought silverware, with the club winning the Campeonato Paranaense. In December 2024, after years of temporary moves, he finally left Alverca on a permanent basis to join Vila Nova, and the following year lifted the Campeonato Goiano with the club. Poveda began his career in the youth ranks at Rio Preto and Guarani, with a loan spell at Internacional, before making his professional debut with Guarani in 2018.
