About the player
Gustavo Vargas came through the Guaraní academy, where he made his senior debut before Olimpia brought him back in a $2 million deal in July 2025 — a transfer that also took his teammate Alexis Cantero to the club, with Guaraní keeping a 30% sell-on clause on each player. The move closed the loop on a path that had started at Olimpia itself between 2020 and 2021, before he left to build his career at Guaraní.
In between, he spent the first half of 2024 on loan at Deportivo Santaní before returning to close out his spell there. His performances at Guaraní included a match against Independiente in the club's Copa Sudamericana in 2025.
