About the player
Romeo Benítez broke through at Guaraní, making his professional debut in the Paraguayan Primera División in April 2022 and scoring his first goal the following month against General Caballero JLM. Over two seasons at the club he became a regular in midfield, making 52 league appearances and scoring seven goals.
A move abroad followed when Athletico Paranaense sent him on loan to Argentina's Tigre for the 2024–2025 season, where he made 11 appearances in the Primera División. In June 2025 he returned to Paraguayan football on loan at Olimpia, with his parent club covering his salary.
Alongside his club progress, Benítez has been a fixture of Paraguay's youth setup. He featured at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship and the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, then stepped up to the U-23 squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament and the Paris Olympics that year.
Right-footed despite his tendency to operate on the left, and slight in build at 170 cm, Benítez has built his career so far on regular minutes rather than a single defining moment.
