Raquel Rodríguez Cedeño

Raquel Rodríguez is Costa Rica's all-time leading scorer, with more than 55 goals and over 100 caps for the national side. Part of that tally includes a milestone — she scored her country's first-ever goal at a FIFA Women's World Cup, against Spain in 2015.

Her path to that stage ran through college soccer in the United States. After starting out at Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica, Rodríguez moved to Penn State, where she won the NCAA Division I Championship in 2015 and picked up the Hermann Trophy along with the Honda Sports Award. Sky Blue FC took her second overall in the 2016 NWSL College Draft, and she was named Rookie of the Year. A loan spell at Perth Glory in Australia's W-League followed, where she became the first Central American player to feature in the competition. In 2017 she scored the fastest goal in NWSL history, finding the net after just 24 seconds.

A trade to Portland Thorns FC in January 2020 turned into a period of success: the NWSL Shield and Challenge Cup in 2021, then the NWSL Championship in 2022. Internationally, she has added a gold medal at the 2013 Central American Games, silver at the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship, and bronze at the 2019 Pan American Games to her collection.

She plays with her right foot and wears the number 11 shirt.
