Amicitia Zurich 2

The second team at Saalsporthalle exists because a first team does: when Grasshopper Club Zürich's handball section merged with ZMC Amicitia Zürich on 23 August 2010 to form GC Amicitia Zürich, the new club needed somewhere for players not yet ready for the senior side. It carries the blue and white inherited from the Grasshopper Club side.

Ami II plays in the Nationalliga B, a level below the senior team's league, and enters the Schweizer Cup each season, though it has rarely gone far in the latter: its best run came in 2017/18, when it reached the round of 32. The senior club's cabinet of Swiss championships and cup wins belongs to that team alone, not to the reserves, and Ami II has yet to add a trophy of its own to the club's history.

That distinction between first and second team mattered more than usual in the summer of 2025. The men's handball team of GC Amicitia Zürich filed for bankruptcy and was formally declared insolvent on 30 June, after unpaid salaries and mounting financial trouble caught up with it. The handball section did not disappear with it: youth teams and the wider structure carried on under a new carrier association and a tighter budget, and Ami II kept its place in the Nationalliga B through the 2025/2026 season.
