Cebu Greats

Across the Tañon Strait sit the rivals that make most sense on a schedule map, Negros Hacienderos and Bacolod MassKara.

Whatever the fixture card calls the visitors, the shirt they play under has changed almost every season it has existed. What is now the Cebu Greats began as the Cebu City Sharks, dropped the "City" a year later, then spent a season carrying the name of a rum brand as the Cebu Casino Ethyl Alcohol. The franchise went quiet after that spell, came back in 2025 as the Cebu Classic, and settled on the identity it plays under now.

None of those names has brought a title back to Cebu City. The closest the club has come was in its first season, 2018–19, when the Sharks reached the Division Quarterfinals before Davao Occidental ended the run. The 2025 campaign closed with a tenth-place finish in the South Division, outside the playoff picture, much as the 2019–20 season had gone before the long pause.

The roster has carried more recognisable names than the results suggest. Dondon Hontiveros, a PBA veteran, has worn both the jersey and the assistant coach's clipboard for the franchise, while homegrown guard Will McAloney made the 2020 MPBL All-Star game before the PBA's NLEX picked him in the draft.

There is no single gym to call their own; home games rotate between the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, the Aznar Coliseum, and the Cebu Coliseum.
