CEP Lorient

The basketball side found its first real height in the early 1950s, winning the French Honors Championship in 1951 and earning promotion to the top division the following year.

That peak did not hold. A run of professional basketball between 1987 and 1991, which took the club as far as the French Championship quarter-finals in 1987, ended in bankruptcy, and Lorient dropped to the fourth tier. The climb back took a quarter of a century: promotion to Nationale 1 arrived in 2016, and two years later the club reached the national final, finishing runners-up. It was, by any measure of the club's history, as close as it had come to the top since the 1950s.

In June 2021 the professional section was restructured into a company of its own, separate from the founding association, and took the name CEP Lorient Breizh Basket.

Home games are played at the Palais des sports de Kervaric, in blue and red, in front of a crowd that has watched the club move between divisions more than once and come back.
