Fougeres

That happened in June 2009, when AGL de Fougères, Club du Drapeau de Fougères and Club de basket de Luitré combined into Pays de Fougères Basket. AGL itself went back to 1906, and its basketball section, formed in 1923, had already won the UFOLEP French Championship in 1948 under Justy Specker, the coach whose name the club's hall in Fougères now carries.

The senior men's side plays in blue and white and answers to the nickname "Blues Brothers." What put the club on the national map, though, was a run in the Trophée Coupe de France between 2022 and 2024 — three finals, three wins. The first, against TOAC, turned on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Maxime Choplin.

Locally, the fixtures that matter most are against Aurore Vitré Basket, known here as the derby brétillien, and against Union Rennes Basket 35, the other side sharing the Ille-et-Vilaine department.
