Chelyabinsk Women

Slavyanka-ChKPZ shares its home city with Metallurg from Magnitogorsk, and the fixture between them is the South Ural Derby.

The club was founded in April 1989 as Stroitel, took the name Slavyanka in 1996, and folded in 2015 when the money ran out. It came back in 2022 under the Chelbasket umbrella, rebranded Slavyanka-ChKPZ, and returned to the Higher League — the second tier of Russian women's basketball — for the 2022/23 season. Before any of that, in 1997/98, the team had reached seventh place in the top-flight Superleague A.

Promotion has come the same way twice: silver in the Higher League in 2006/07 sent the side up to Superleague A, and the same finish, silver again, arrived in 2023/24. Between those two seasons the club produced players who went on to wear the national shirt, among them Irina Romanova, who took gold with Russia's under-20 side at the 2008 European Championship.

Home games are played in front of 250 people at most, and crimson and white are still the colours the crowd — the "Slavyanochki" — turn out in.
