Fos Provence Basket

Two men, Paul Bruyère and Jean Lovato, put the club together in Fos-sur-Mer on 13 January 1972 under the name Frat Fosséenne, and it stayed a regional side known as Fos Ouest Provence Basket. That changed in April 2014, when the sporting rights passed to a new professional structure, SAS Provence Basket, and the team took the name it carries now.

The rise that followed had two steps. Promotion to Pro A came first in 2017-18, with Derrick Obasohan driving the playoff win over Roanne. Then, in 2020-21, the club won Pro B outright and went up as champions. The season before that title, Fos had lifted the Pro B Leaders Cup, beating Quimper 68-57. The championship side was built around the guard play of Kevin McClain and Jamar Diggs, with Nik Caner-Medley anchoring the middle. That top flight stay lasted one season beyond a quarter-final run in the Coupe de France; Fos finished 16th in Pro A in 2021-22 and dropped back to Pro B.

Mamadou Dia has stayed the constant through the club's different eras, captain and the figure players and supporters point to when they talk about what the shirt is meant to mean, long after the title-winning squad broke up. Home games are played in front of just under 2,000 at the Halle des sports Henri Giuitta.

Games against Hyères-Toulon Var Basket carry the same edge whenever both sides sit in Pro B together.
