Roanne

The Halle André Vacheresse holds a little over 5,000 people.

What became Chorale Roanne started in 1932 as a choir run by local teachers; the basketball section was grafted on in 1937, and the "chorale" name stuck long after the singing stopped mattering. That history gives the club its nickname, La Chorale, still used interchangeably with Roanne.

The club's best season came in 2006–07, when it won the French Championship and the League Cup, La Semaine des As, in the same year. Roanne's only other league title dates back to 1958–59.

Between those two championships sit stretches in the second division, Pro B, which Roanne has won three times, most recently in 2025–26. Relegation and promotion have followed each other with some regularity since the 1960s, and the club has generally answered a drop with a swift return rather than a long stay in the lower tier.

The fixture that matters most locally is against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, close enough geographically to carry real weight; Roanne's win at ASVEL's own arena in March 2013 ended an eighteen-year wait for a victory there. Games against JA Vichy and JL Bourg-en-Bresse fill out the regional calendar without carrying the same edge.

Roanne returns to Pro A on the back of that latest Pro B title, with the task now being to hold a place among the clubs it has spent much of the last two decades chasing back into.
